#124. Baby's Breath, you do not disappoint...

Miss Joey made me realize that maybe the idea of having the BM's use baby's breath is the most ab fab idea ever. Which just reaffirms my earlier feelings about said flower.

#123. Congrats!

What a great shower idea!

#122. STD's

So... I am leaning towards the idea of emailing Save the Dates. I think that works best for me. I don't know if I'll want to spend more time/money/energy/waste more paper on those when it isn't a huge deal for me. HOWEVER, how cute would it be to make wine label STD's like these and give them to (immediate) family and Bridesmaids/Groomsmen? On a bottle of vino, natch. One sticker can be saved for scrapbooking purposes, obvi.

#121. Hair and Makeup

I really like both the hair and makeup that Miss Yorkie recently posted on WeddingBee. :)

#120. Traditions

I'm all about observing (some) traditional aspects of weddings. I love the idea of sticking to the same routine my parents and grandparents, etc... observed. I think the one tradition that might get the boot is the bouquet toss - not because I don't like it, but because I don't think there will be any single ladies to catch it! I do like the idea of tossing some loose flowers to all of the women attending, though...

Anyway, I got off topic. I did a quick google search of Scottish traditions (BF is definitely Scottish and my family originated from Scotland as well - my Mom's maiden name (Hardie) is pretty much equivalent to Smith in the US.) This is what I found. Most of the traditions I can live without: the feet washing, the pipes, the tartans... I do, however, love these ideas:

1. Wouldn't this Luckenbooth broach look beautiful on the ribbon of a bouquet?

2. I think my Mom has a Sixpence she had in her shoe when she got married, and I think it has been passed down...

3. Is it just me, or does the scramble sound fun?

#118. First Draft

It's obviously WAY too soon to even consider using this, but let's just call me super prepared. It needs some work, but I'd like to say something like this:

Your presence is present enough, we have everything we need. However, should you feel the desire to give a gift, we are asking that you consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).

If tangible gifts make you giddy with glee, we would love a copy of your favorite recipe, a book you think we might enjoy, or (if you just cannot seem to escape the wedding fever) visit www.amazon.com. We registered there just for you!

#117. One Word - YUMMYGOODNESS. It's a word.

Source.

This weekend I hosted a picnic for the aforementioned friend with the amazing wedding. For the potluck picnic, I was in charge of cupcakes. My initial idea was to bake them that morning, but with: guests (BF's fam), a garage sale the day before, and the end of the move keeping me busy the week before, I opted to do Whole Foods cupcakes. Oh. My. God. Tasty goodness. AND, affordable! How cute would it be to do small (49 cents each) and large (99 cents each) cupcakes? I double checked, and there is one in Little Rock. PLUS, you could do an assortment, or all the same. Ah! I'm loving that AND the price difference from Sprinkles.

#116. OMG. Awesomeness.

I don't know if I could ever do something this clever, but I love this.

#115. Recessional

Would it be odd to have this song playing as a couple walked down the aisle as man and wife? If not, I plan on playing it at some point during the wedding. And, possibly, during the ipod mix I anticipate I will make for getting ready music. :)

Captain & Tennille - Love Will Keep Us Together

Love, love will keep us together
Think of me babe whenever
Some sweet talking girl comes along singing her song
Don't mess around,
You gotta be strong
Just Stop [stop], 'cause I really love You
Stop [stop], I'll be thinking of you
Look in my heart and let love keep us together

You, You belong to me now
Ain't gonna set you free now
When those girls start hanging around talking me down
Hear with your heart and you won't hear a sound
Just Stop [stop], 'cause I really love you
Stop [stop], I'll be thinking of you
Look in my heart and let love keep us together, what ever.

Young and beautiful
Someday your looks will be gone
When the others turn you off
Who'll be turning you on

I will, I will, I will, I will
Be there to share forever
Love will keep us together
Said it before and I'll say it again while others pretend
I'll need you now and I'll need you then
Stop 'cause I really love Ya
Stop I'll be thinking of Ya
Look in my heart and let love keep us together

#114. Pretty...

#113. I went to the most amazing wedding this weekend

This weekend I had the great fortune to be invited to my first small, intimate wedding. I loved it. I wasn't granted the "and guest" gesture (which was a-okay with the BF) because the bride was only able to invite 5 friends from college, one of whom was not a friend from college but the husband of a friend from school. The scene:

Location: A family friend's home
Dress: Champagne bridesmaids dress from a department store (that was gorgeous and flattering)
Ceremony: 3 minutes, most of which were made up of readings
The bridal party: n/a
Food/drinks: 2 magnums of red, 2 of white, Shiner and Miller Lite + The Burger Man grilling outside
Number of attendees: 36
Cake: n/a - there was a cookie cake and cookies passed around
Favors: n/a

The money saved is great, but the time the couple was able to spend with the attendees was phenomenal. I hope I am able to someday incorporate some of the joy and spirit that was present on this day.
